Time apt for Iran, France to boost ties

TEHRAN, Jul. 24 (MNA) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said it is time for Tehran and Paris to develop cooperation in different fields.

Rouhani, talking to his French counterpart François Hollande on a phone conversation, noted to great capabilities and capacities of Iran and France in bolstering the ties and said the two countries have lost great opportunities during last decade and it is the time to reinforce the ties. 

Noting Iran’s nuclear deal, Rouhani urged the 5+1 group of countries, including France, to commit themselves to the provisions of nuclear agreement reached with Iran and called for their endeavors to enforce next steps in the deal's implementation.

Rouhani meanwhile pointed to destructive role of terrorism in region and said Iran seeks cooperation of European countries, including France, to confront terrorist groups in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

“Iran’s mail objective in the region is establishment of peace and stability and we are ready to cooperate with other countries on this field,” he added.

French president, while thanking President Rouhani’s role in achieving a nuclear deal, said French FM will soon visit Tehran for cementing of bilateral ties and outlining a roadmap to reinforce the relations.

Underlining the need for collective effort to implement the nuclear deal, asserted that Iran and France have the potential to cooperate on different fields of energy, oil, and aviation.

Hollande also emphasized the importance of people-to-people contacts and said, “In addition to promotion of academic ties, the ground for exchange of Iranian and French tourists should be prepared as it can play a major role in advancement of cooperation between Iran and France.”

Announcing that France is ready to cooperate with Iran on fight against terrorism, French president stressed the need for political solutions in Syria and Yemen and cooperation to fight terrorism in Iraq.
